Here we have a circa 1924 Elgin Grade 472 B.W. Raymond, model 15, Railroad grade pocket watch. It is a size 16s 21 jewel movement. It has a going barrel and Ball regulator. It is adjusted to 5 positions, temperature and isochronism, as with all railroad grade pocket watches. It has an Invar balance, which is a nickel-iron alloy that has a low coefficient of thermal expansion. The calibre had a total production run of 21,000.
It has a bright white enamel dial with the bold Arabic numerals. The outside of the dial is marked with clear individual seconds markers, with 0-60 in Arabic numerals. The 5 second graduations are in red for legibility. The sub-second dial is inset, with the individual markers, larger 5 second dashes and 10 second Arabic markers. The hands are of clear spade and whip style with the thermally blued finish. The sub-second hand is clear with an accurate tapered tip. The crown winds the mainspring, with the bezel being unscrewed to set the time by pulling the lever at 1 o’clock and turning the crown.
The case measures 50.5mm x 50.5mm and is gold plated. It is a three-piece case which has the screw bezel and rear. It has the engraved finish to the bezel, the sides of the case and the edge of the rear. The case back has the linear stiped finish with an offset diamond shape. Inside it is marked ‘Derby Sturdy rolled plate case Made in Canada’. It was manufactured by the Montreal Watch Case Co.

Dial:
The dial is original and is in good condition. It has a bright white enamel tone, with no major cracks or chips. It has a faint hairline from 12 o’clock to 10 o’clock. The signing is good and clear with no wear.
Hands:
The hands are original and in decent condition. They are of spade and whip style with the thermally blued finish. They have corrosion associated with age. They are free of bending.
Glass:
The acrylic crystal is a replacement which is in good condition with no marking.
Crown:
The block surrounding the crown has more wear to the plate, with some more noticeable wear on the loop too. The crown also has wear and tarnishing but all aspects are original.
Case:
It is a gold-plated case, with the screw front and rear. The front has the engraved boarder. The plate is light wear, associated with age and some light scratching.
Caseback:
The screw back is in decent condition, with a good thread, screwing down tightly. It is gold plated and has wear associated by ageing. It has scratching and wear associated with age.
Movement:
