Here we have a fascinating Omega watch. Dating to 1939, the case is a very unusual and a potentially unique Art Deco X lug design. It is a full stainless steel Omega case, which measures 32.5mm across.

It has a copper tone dial with silver minute chapter ring and the black Arabic numerals and Omega logo. It has the in-set sub-seconds with circular grained finish. Inside it is signed with the Omega name and serial. The movement is an Omega calibre 26.5 SOB T2, which has been recently serviced and is keeping accurate time.

The dial is original, with the copper tone. It has a silver minute track around the outside, with clear black Arabic numerals. The Omega logo and signing is positioned below 12 O’clock. There is the sub-second dial at 6 O’clock which is inset and has a circular textured finish. The hours and minutes are indicated by the Leaf style hands. They are thermally blued and catch the light nicely.

The cases strict measurement is 32.5mm x 32.5mm, however the watch wears much larger due to the lug design. The measurement from lug-to-lug is 40mm, which gives the watch significant presence. It is a comfortable wear with the subtle downturn of the lugs and the slim depth of 7.75mm.

The design of the case is exceptional with its X lug configuration. This is the only example of this design that we have found, with it being potentially unique. The dial surround is a flat ledge which falls away into the large, polished plane. The sides of the case are flat with the brushed finishing. To the right is the thin crown with the coin edge finish.

The lugs appear very much separate from the circular main body, with flat polished top and bevelled section leading into the flat edges. It is a three-piece case design with snap on bezel and case back. The case back is signed to the inside Acier Staybrite, with the Omega logo and the serial number ‘9806461’.

Inside is the Omega calibre 26.5 SOB T2, which was introduced in 1933. It is a 15-jewel manual wind movement. It has been recently serviced and is keeping accurate time.
