1940s Lord Elgin watch, Property of Golfer Reginald Horne RyderCup 1947 engraved.
 
"REGINALD W HORNE, MEMBER RYDER CUP TEAM, OF GT BRITAIN,
PORTLAND OREGON U.S.A,1947".
 
The watch was awarded to Reginald Horne for being part of the Ryder cup team to play in Portland
Oregon in 1947. Although he did not play in the Ryder Cup, he was given this presentation watch
from American brand Elgin as a gift of hospitality.
 
The watch has been recently serviced.
 
The movement dates to 1946.

 

23.5mm x 28.5mm case dimensions.

Dial:
The dial is original and good in it's condition. There is no discolouration or wear to the dial.
There are some dirt markings speckled on the dial.

 

 

Hands:
The hands are original and have no signs of wear or corrosion. 
 
Glass:
The crystal is original and in perfect condition.
 
Crown:
The original crown. It has no signs of wear.
 
Case:
The Gold Filled case is in excellent condition, showing little signs of wear and only light surface scratching.
 
Caseback:
14k Gold Filled. Maintains original graining still, light surface scratching, includes the engraving

 

 

Strap:

Possibly original expanding bracelet.

 

Movement:
An Elgin grade 559 movement with 21 jewels that has been recently serviced.

Keeping time to +1 minute a day, with 230 amplitude.
