Here we have a good, unpolished and original example of a circa 1948 9ct gold Bonklip bracelet. It was manufactured by B H Britton & Sons, with the British patent 349657. It has 18mm ends which make it an excellent size for many watches from the late 1940s – early 1950s. It is a nice, long example with a total length of 217mm.
Good examples are rather uncommon and good examples are even less common. The 18mm ends indicate that it has never been polished down to fit a smaller lug width.
It has detailed hallmarking to either side of the rear of EVERY link, 9 and 375.
The main links of the bracelet measure 12.75mm in width.
Makers mark for B H Britton & Sons with hallmarking from Birmingham assay office, with the date letter ‘Y’ dating it to 1948.
In good vintage condition. The final links before the ends have some slight pulling/twisting with age but are still sturdy. The ends have some playing to the edges but maintain a good, tight, cylindrical shape. It has not been forced off of spring bars or bars in its time.
