For sale we have a beautiful offering of a Mid Century Sterling Silver and Yellow guilloche enamel Leaf brooch and earring set, by Willy Winnaess for David Andersen, of Norway.

It is rare to have a matching brooch and earring set, with the two often having been separated. Yellow is also a very fetching and slightly less common colour for the design.

The silver has a gilt finish, giving it a warmer tone. Both the brooch and clip on earrings are in very good vintage condition. The enamel has no damage or losses whilst the pin is good and straight on the brooch. The hinges on the earrings are good and ensure a tight hold on the ear.

They are marked with the Norweigian standard D-A Norway Sterling and the mark for Willy Winnaess. Willy Winnaes (1911-2002) worked for J. Tostrup and David-Andersen, producing leaf and floral designs, as well as modernist pieces. He had his own workshop from 1941-78.

David Andersen was the founder of Norway’s best-known jewellers of the 19th century. The company grew to become internationally famous for its enamel jewellery in the first half of the 20th century, exporting most of its production.

The David-Andersen company is still family owned, producing high-quality silver items, often with enamel work.

These pieces remain one of the most popular designs of Mid Century Scandinavian jewellery. A beautiful set for the upcoming autumnal period.
