For sale we have a good example of a 1952 Smiths De Luxe watch Reference A104. It is a Dennison chrome case with stainless steel back snap on back. It measures 31mm x 31mm and is a neat design with the horn lugs adding to the case presence and wearability. It has a neat silver sector dial with inset sub-second dial and lumed Arabic hour markers. Inside is the calibre 12.15 movement which has been serviced. This movement is higher grade with the benefit of shock protection. This is a lovely example of an early 1950s English made Smiths watch, with the charm of the horn lug design and eye-catching textured dial that shines.

The case is Dennison made with chrome front and stainless-steel snap on back. It has a beautiful horn lug design which was popular during the period. This means the case measures 39mm in total length which helps make up for its neat 31mm diameter. The chrome is very good with no wear, which is unusual for the age and makes this a good example. The crown is original, of Stainless Steel with coin edge and neat dimpled design.

The dial is eyecatching with its mix of texture and finishing. It is a silver tone dial with a satin finish to the centre of the dial, with appears almost pearlescent in the light. The chapter ring is inset and had a subtly brushed satin finish. The sub-second dial is also inset and has a sunburst finish. There are clear Arabic numerals for the hour markers, with the Signing Smiths De Luxe with the cornet logo. It is also signed 15 jewels and Made In England. The thermally blued syringe style hands indicate the time and have lume in-fill. The sub-second hand is also original with neat lollipop counterbalance.

The watch is on its original leather strap which is in good wearable condition and looks great on the watch.

The movement is a cal 12.15. It has a jewel count of 15, with higher quality balance assembly with shock proofing. It has been recenetly serviced and keeps time to within +/- 7 seconds a day.
