For sale we have a beautiful Eterna-Matic ladies watch from the 1950s, with an automatic movement which is small and of exceptional quality. The circular case has clever angular finishing which adds texture and intrigue to the watch, whilst the gold tone dial has a warm speckled patination. The signed crown is neat, whilst the screwback is well designed. The watch is on a period Clewco Stainless bracelet which matches the mid-century modern design perfectly. A very neat and good quality watch from an excellent maker.

The Stainless-Steel case measures 21mm x 21mm, with a lug-to-lug measurement of 28mm. It is neatly proportioned, whilst the subtle angles and bevels on the case add texture and intrigue. The circular central section would appear plain, but it has a bezel with a bevelled finish to meet the side. The sides of the case have a notched central section with adds to the texture. The lugs are sharp with a bevelled finish and flat polished sides. To the right of the case is the eterna signed crown, whilst the screwback is neat, with clear serial number.

The dial is a warm gold tone that has a speckled patina. It has some light spots associated with ageing. The hour markers are applied in a gold tone in a tear drop style. The dial is balanced with baton markers at 3,6 and 9, with an Arabic script 12 to the top. The applied ball bearing logo is below 12 with Eterna-Matic signing. The dial is signed Swiss to the base.

The hands are of a luminous Lance Alpha style in a gold tone. The lume in-fill is original and has an aged tone, whilst the sweep central second is neat and original.

The Stainless bracelet is period correct and is English made by Clewco with a snake style linkage. It will fit up to a 7” wrist diameter.

The movement is a Eterna calibre 1402U. It is automatic with sweep second. It has a frequency of 18,000 BPH and a power reserve of 43 hours. It has a daily variation of between + or – 20 seconds a day.
