Here we have a 1959 Jaeger LeCoultre 9ct gold square ladies watch. The case is a lovely design with the rope twist top, bottom and lugs. This represents a fine piece of craftsmanship which makes the watch stand out. The aged dial has elongated applied batons, with balanced Arabic 9, 12, 3 and 6. It has the Jaeger LeCoultre signing below 12. It has a JL signed crown to the right-hand side. To the rear it is marked with the reference 7633. Inside it has British hallmarking from London assay office for 9ct gold. The movement is a JLC 490/BW manual wind movement. It has been recently serviced and is keeping very good time. The watch comes in a period box which may be original.

The case has the makers mark ‘DTE’, for London based case makers De Trevars Ltd. During this period in the UK market, De Trevars supplied Jaeger-Lecoultre with a range of quality gold wristwatch case designs. This luxurious case really catches the eye with the rope twist banding to the top and the complex looped rope design of the lugs.

This is a stylish and elegant little ladies watch, suitable for dress wear or everyday wear, thanks to the reliable movement and the fact that it has shockproofing.
