For sale we have a neat, classic and quality 1960 Omega 9ct gold dress watch. It has a Dennison made case with the reference 923. It has a quality Omega calibre 268 movement inside with the classic rose gold finishing.

 

The silver satin dial is original, with some marking and signs of age. It has simple dash minute markers, with applied arrow hour markers in a gold tone. It has appealing applied Arabic 9, 12, 3 numerals. The Omega logo is applied at 12 O’clock, with the Omega signing below. At 6 it is signed Swiss made, with the crosshair sub-second above. The gold tone lance alpha style hands indicate the time and these are neatly matched to the hour markers.

 

The case is in good, unpolished condition. It is a neat 34mm case, which has a 41.5mm lug-to-lug measurement giving it presence on the wrist. It is a UK made case by Dennison, under license with Omega. It has a polished finish and has a three piece design with snap on bezel and case back. The case back is good but has a personal engraving ‘D.H. Reeves, 25 years service, 1936-1961, Richard Kinger LTD’. Inside it is signed with the reference 923 and has British hallmarking dating to 1960.

The movement is an Omega calibre 268 which is a true workhorse of a movement. It is a manual wind movement, with a sub-second function. It is shock protected and it has the classic rose gold tone finishing, which is in good condition. It keeps time to within 10 seconds a day.

 

A classic gold Omega from the mid 20th century. A quality watch that will always be timeless.

Dial:

The dial is original and is in good condition. It has a silver satin finish which is bright and even in tone. It has some speckled dirt marks with age. It has one noticeable marks to the top and right of the cross hair sub-second marking. The signing is good and clear, with good applied hour markers and Omega logo applied.

 

Hands:

The hands are of lance alpha style and are original. They are a gold tone. They are in good condition. The sub-second hand is also original. The hour and minute hand have some light corrosion.

 

Glass:

The acrylic crystal is a replacement and is in good condition.

 

Crown:

The gold-plated Omega signed crown is original and functions as it should.

 

Case:

The case is 9ct gold and is in good condition. The lugs and the sides of the case are good with light surface scratches.

 

Caseback:

The snap on case back is in good condition. It has a polished finish and is in good condition with only light surface scratching. It has a personal engraving.

 

Strap:

The watch comes on a new genuine leather strap which is non Omega, with a non Omega buckle.

 

Movement:

The movement is an Omega cal 268. It is a manual wind movement with sub-second and a jewel count of 17. It has Incabloc shock protection and operates at a frequency of 18,000 BPH with a 45 hour power reserve.

 

The service history is unknown, but the movement is in very good condition cosmetically and functionally. It’s keeping time to within +/- 10 seconds a day, with an amplitude of 260 degrees and a beat error of 3.0m/s.
