Here we have a fun 1960s design from Accurist. This unusual watch has a gold-plated hexagonal case with the off-set crown between 3 and 4 O’clock. The case is double stepped, with the bezel sitting proud above the sides of the case which lead into the slightly downturned lugs. This creates an interesting angular design to the case. The silver sunburst dial has eye-catching double markers at 12, 3, 6 & 9, with long, thin applied dash markers. The facetted Dauphine style hands are a gold tone and compliment the markers and case nicely. The case back is Stainless Steel and has the brushed finish with the Accurist signing. Inside is the Peseux 320 movement. It is a 17-jewel manual wind calibre, which has a beat rate of 18,000 BPH and a 40-hour power reserve. It also benefits from shock proofing.
It has been recently serviced and is keeping time to within +/- 5 seconds a day.
The movement is one of the most successful and aesthetically pleasing handing movements ever produced. It is a very slim movement with a height of 3mm. It is a robust and well-designed movement, which is capable of very accurate time keeping even in its standard form. It would seem to have been replaced at some point in its life with the 17-jewel variation, as the case and dial are marked 21 jewels.
This is an unusual and stylish watch, with a quality serviced movement.
