For sale we have an uncommon late 1960s/early 1970s Zenith dress watch known as the Zenitissimo. The model was made in gold filled as well as solid gold. This is a gold-filled example with a stainless-steel back. It is a neat reference, with a 28mm x 28mm case, with a 33.75mm lug to lug measurement. The case is tonneau shaped with a facetted case design in fitting with the era. It has a thick raised crystal with a champagne tone dial. The hours are presented in roman numerals on the applied chapter ring, which has a brushed finish. The signing is simple and clean on the dial, with the black painted hour and minute hand making this a proper dress piece. The crown to the right-hand side is signed with the Zenith four-pointed star.
The stainless steel back has a brushed finish, with clearly engraved serial number. Inside it is signed with the Zenith name and the reference 4003.
The movement is a small and thin manual wind calibre 1730, which dates to 1968. It has a jewel count of 19, with incabloc shock protection and an unusual regulator gear. It has been recently serviced and is keeping excellent time.
It comes on its original Zenith leather strap, with its original gold tone Zenith buckle. The strap is worn so it will be replaced, but the original strap will be included with the watch.
A rarely seen Zenith model, which offers an intriguing design, clearly rooted in the era is was created. A neat dress piece which will certainly catch the eye.
