Here we have a lovely example of a 1971 9ct Omega Geneve date dress watch. It is the reference 1061 132.5017. It has a clean and classic silver sunburst dial, with the applied baton hour markers and the date window at 3 O’clock. It is signed with the Omega name and logo, with the ‘Geneve’ model name. It has a neat 33.75mm case with the straight, tapered lug design. To the right it has the signed Omega crown. The rear has the brushed finish with its presentation engraving “British Oxygen Company, G.C. Wilkins 1976, For Long Service”. Inside it is signed with the case reference and British hallmarking. The movement is an Omega cal 1030 manual wind movement. It is keeping accurate time. The watch is presented on its original Omega leather strap with the Omega gold plated buckle.

The dial is a clean and classic design with its silver sunburst finish. The sunburst radiates from the centre, catching the eye in the light. It has the simple dash minute/second markers, between the applied baton hour markers. The markers are a gold tone with the bevelled design and the black stripe to the centre. To the base of the markers are the original tritium luminous plots, which have aged to a yellow tone. At 12 o’clock there is a double baton marker to differentiate it. The date window is at 3 O’clock with the black outside and silver satin finished bevelled surround. The date window is a speckled silver tone with the black Arabic signing. The dial is simply signed with the Omega name and logo below 12, with the ‘Geneve’ signing above 6 and ‘Swiss Made’ either side of the base of the dial.

The hands are of luminous stick style, with the black painted centre and luminous in-fill. They are a bright gold tone with the polished finish. The central second hand is original with the thin profile and slight tapered design.

The case is a classic, well-proportioned dress watch. It measures 33.75mm x 33.6mm. The straight lugs add presence, taking the total lug-to-lug measurement to 40mm. It has a slim depth of 8.5mm, making it a snug fit to the wrist.

It is formed of 9ct yellow gold and has a two-piece construction with a solid back and front-loading movement. It has a polished bezel with the bevelled design, leading to the flat sides of the case. The lugs are a thin, straight design with the taper downwards, a pleasing design which catches the light nicely. To the right is the coin edge crown, signed with the Omega logo. The case back has the polished exterior with the brushed finish to the face. It has a presentation engraving, “BOC G.C. Wilkins 1976 For Long Service”.

Inside the case is signed with the Omega logo and the reference 1060 1325017. It is a UK made case with British hallmarking from Birmingham assay office.

The movement is an Omega calibre 1030 which is a manual wind movement, with a jewel count of 17. It has a 45-hour power reserve with a frequency of 28,800 BPH. It benefits from a quickset date and hacking seconds. The movement service history is unknown but is in good condition. It’s keeping time to within + 15 seconds a day.

It comes on its original Omega leather strap with the gold-plated Omega big logo buckle, which is pleasing to see.

In unpolished condition, this is a very good, lightly worn example.
