For sale we have a good example of a 1977 Reference 136.0104 Omega gold plated dress watch. It has a neat gold-plated case, with silver sunburst dial, date function and a calibre 1030 movement. It is a classic watch, which can be worn as a dress piece, or a daily wear.
The 35mm case has a polished case and is circular with straight, slightly tapered lugs. It has flat sides. To the rear is the Steel snap on back with clear Omega logo. To the right-hand side is the original Omega crown which is chunky and easy to use.
The silver sunburst dial is good, with applied hour markers and date window balanced at 3 O’clock. The applied hour markers have a black painted line to the centre, which ties in with the black line on the hands. The date window has a black outline, with facetted edge, meeting the white date wheel, with black Arabic numerals.
The lume plots have aged at the base of the hour markers to a lovely orange tone, with the matching aged lume within the hands.
The dial and hands are protected by the original Omega crystal, with Omega etching to the centre.
Inside is a manual wind Omega cal 1030 movement, which is in good condition, keeping time to within 5 seconds a day. It has a hi-beat frequency of 28,800 BPH, a quickset date functioning and hacking central second hand. The classic rose gold movement finishing is good with no wear.
The watch comes with its original outer box and its signed paperwork. The paperwork notes that it was sold on 6/1/1979, whilst according to the serial number, the movement was produced in 1977. It was commonplace for some watches to take time to sell in jewellers, particularly during the height of the Quartz crisis.
Overall this is a good example of an adaptable and quality Omega watch, capable of every day wear, or dress wear.
