This is a unique and well-designed Universal Geneve dress watch, from a transitional era. It is in near NOS condition on it’s original strap, with original Stainless buckle. Inside is a high quality 8 jewel quartz movement with great finishing.
The case is mid-sized at 32.5mm x 32.5mm, with a lug-to-lug measurement of 37mm. Its formed of Stainless Steel and is of an ultra-thin profile, at 5.8mm. The bezel has a beautiful and unusual beaded finish. This is rarely seen and really makes this watch stand out. The case has neat and thin lugs which sharp edges. It follows the 1980s trend of coin based design watches.
The dial is very well executed with a two tone finish. The dial itself is minimalistic in terms of time telling, but focuses on creating an interesting mix of tones and textures, hallmarks of an elegant dress piece. The outer sector of the dial is a radially brushed finish in a light grey tone. The hour markers consist of raised circular plots which follow the design ques of the bezel. The central part of the dial is a dark grey/charcoal tone, with a silver boarder. This silver boarder is tied together nicely with the same tone Universal geneve signing beneath 12 o’clock, and the quartz signing on the lower section of the central circle. The universal Geneve “U” logo sits proudly at the top of the dial, with the signing “Swiss” below 6 O’clock.
The hands are original sword style, Stainless steel. They are in perfect condition with no scratching. There is a central black painted line running along the middle of both hands, which is in great condition with no marks.
The sapphire crystal is original and is in good condition. It has two small scratches visible in the images. It is flat to the profile of the watch, keeping the streamlined design.
The crown is original and is in excellent condition. It has a neat coin edge finish. It is signed with the Universal Geneve logo.
The case back is in NOS condition. It is snap on and is Stainless Steel. It has the original grained finish which is in excellent condition. It has some very light surface scratches.
The watch is on its original Universal Geneve strap which is black with lizard finish. It has it’s original Stainless UG buckle. It is in NOS condition, meaning it is unworn.
The movement is a Universal Geneve 1-43, which is a high-grade quartz movement, with 8 jewels. It has an excellent quality of finish with Cote De Geneve striping.
The movement is in excellent condition and is working perfectly, with a new battery having been fitted.
