Here we have a late 1980s Omega De Ville gold plated tank style dress watch. It is the reference 1960317.1 which has a Louis Lang manufactured case. It has an eye-catching vertically grained dial in a gold tone with the applied baton hour markers and date window at 3 O’clock. It has the gold tone hour and minute hand with a central second hand. The case is neatly proportioned at 30mm and is gold plated. The Omega signed crown is to the right. To the rear is the Stainless-Steel snap on back with the De Ville cityscape. Inside it is signed with the reference number and Omega name. Inside is the Omega 1430 quartz movement. It has a new battery fitted and is keeping reliable time.

The dial catches the eye with the use of the vertical grained finish. It consists of grooved bands with further fine vertical lines on each band. The baton hour markers are applied to the dial in a gold tone, with the polished finish. The date window sits at 3 O’clock with the bevelled window and black framing to the outside. The window is a satin speckled champagne tone with the black numerals. Below 12, the dial is signed with the Omega name and logo, with the ‘Swiss Made’ signing below 6 o’clock.

The case is gold plated to 20 Microns, which was a good standard of gold plating, used since the 1960s. It is a thick coating which is hard wearing for gold plate. It also provides a rich tone of yellow gold. The case is a barrel shape of square form with the rounded corners. It has thin and short lugs which creates a compact and neat design with the focus on the main body of the watch and the dial. It is a classic dress proportion with a width of 30mm x 30mm without the crown or lugs. It has a slim depth of 5.4mm which makes it a very comfortable wear. To the right is the original crown with the Omega logo. To the rear is the Stainless-Steel snap on back with the De Ville cityscape motif to the centre. The main face has a brushed finish which provides a good contrast to the motif. Inside the case is signed with the Omega name and the reference number, with the ‘LL’ symbol for Louis Lang, a famous case maker for Omega.

Inside the watch has the original Omega Quartz calibre 1430. It is a 6 jewel movement with the central second and quickset date function. It is keeping reliable time and has had a new battery fitted.
