For sale we have a gents 1980s Raymond Weil tank/tonneau shaped watch with eye-catching Tri-colour dial, with the gold foil striping. It is marked as the reference 9066. It has the 18k gold electroplated case with the polished finish. The tri-colour dial is signed with the Raymond Weil name, with applied ‘RW’ logo. A classic dress piece, it has just an hour and minute hand. The case back snaps on and has the reference signing. The movement is an ETA 956.111 Quartz calibre which is keeping accurate time. It is presented on its original Apollo of Great Britain tan leather strap, which has the Raymond Weil gold plated buckle.
The standout aspect of this watch is undoubtably the dial. A totally 1980s design with salmon, baby blue and champagne stripes, separated by gold foil bands. It is an eye-catching dial which shows off in the light as it flashes gold and brings the colours to life. It has the applied ‘RW’ logo at 12 O’clock in a gold tone which has the polished finish. It is signed with the ‘Raymond Weil’ name with the ‘Geneve’ and ‘Quartz’ signing.
The hands are of facetted Dauphine style which enables them to reflect the light. They are a gold tone with the polished finish.
The case is neatly proportioned, originally a gent’s size, but comfortable on either a gents or ladies wrist by modern tastes. It measures 28mm x 28mm, with a lug-to-lug measurement of 34.25mm. It has a slim depth of 5mm which makes it a comfortable wear.
It is 18k gold electroplated, which provides a good plated finish. It has the polished finish which shines in the light. To the right is the near original crown with the coin edge finish.
The rear snaps into place and is signed with the Raymond Weil name and the model reference 9066.
The movement is an ETA 956.111 Quartz calibre. It has a jewel count of 7 and displays the hours and minutes. It has a new battery fitted and is keeping accurate time.
The watch comes on its original ‘Apollo of Great Britain’ leather strap, which has the Raymond Weil gold plated buckle. It is in excellent vintage condition and remains flexible.
