Here we have a lovely looking neo-vintage 1990s Zenith Triple date moonphase dress watch, which has a well sized and thin 38mm gold plated case, with the stainless back. It is the reference 27.0280.393, of which there are very few examples. It has a deep blue dial with the sub-dials having the gold mirror finish framing. It displays the day, month, date pointer, moonphase, hours, minutes and constant seconds. It has the Zenith signed crown to the right. Inside is the original Zenith signed ETA 255.483 Quartz movement, which is working well with a new battery fitted.

The dial is eye-catching with its deep blue tone, which shines in the light. The use of gold text for the signing is a luxurious match to the tone of the blue, whilst providing contrast. The exterior of the dial has the days of the month, with the minute track inside of this. The hour markers are three-dimensional applied batons with the rounded ends and mirror polished finish. The Zenith name is off-set at 3 O’clock with a larger applied roman numeral taking centre stage at 12 O’clock. The sub-dials are equally sized, with the day to the upper left, month to the upper right and constant seconds with moonphase aperture to the centre above 6. The sub-dials are sunken into the dial, with the gold mirror finish capping surrounding them. The dials have a powder finish which makes them stand out from the base blue of the dial. The aperture on the sub-second dial exposes the moonphase disc, which has the smiling moon with the gold on blue background. The hour and minute hands are of an elegant stick style with the mirror polished finish, as well as the sub-dial hands. The date pointing hand is thermally blued, with the red painted tip. The dial and hands are protected by the flat mineral crystal which has a bevelled edge.

The case is well proportioned, measuring 38mm x 38mm which is in-line with more modern sizing. It is a comfortable fit to the wrist, with its slim depth of 6.5mm. The main body of the case is gold plated with the polished finish. The bezel is a broad design, with a bevelled edge, meeting the circular central section of the case. The central section sits proud of the bezel, creating a double stepped design. The straight lugs are thin and neatly proportioned, fitting the case well. To the right-hand side there is a slight recess for the original Zenith signed crown. The rear of the case is flat, with the snap-on bezel raising slightly from the case, with the flat brushed face. It is engraved with the Zenith logo and the reference 27.0280.393. Inside it is further signed with the Zenith name.

The movement is a Zenith 39.3, which is an ETA 255.483 movement. It is a seven jewel Quartz calibre, which displays the hours, minutes, constant seconds, moonphase, day, month and date pointer. It has had a new battery fitted and is keeping reliable time within specification.

A well sized, slim and dressy neo-vintage triple date moonphase, by a top Swiss maker. It is not commonly seen and you will struggle to find another.
