Here we have a mid to late 2000s Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph reference CV2113-0. It is a function packed watch with the chronograph central second, date window, small seconds, 30 minute counter and 12 hour counter.

It has a 39mm Stainless Steel case with the classic angular tapered lug design. It has the black dial with the inset sub-dials having the black centre with silver surround. This balances well with the silver tone baton hour markers. There are lume plots to the base of the hour markers, with the silver tone hour and minute hand also having luminous in-fill. The date window is offset at 5 O’clock with the tapered window, having white Arabic numerals on a sleek black window. The white central second hand stands out against the dial allowing for clear timing. The dial is protected by the raised Sapphire crystal which provides excellent visibility.

It is powered by the Tag Heuer calibre 17 movement. It is a modular chronograph movement, based on the ETA 2894-2. It is an automatic movement, with a jewel count of 37 and a hi-beat frequency of 28,800. It has a good power reserve of 42 hours. It is keeping accurate time, to within -15 seconds variation a day.

Arguably Heuer’s most famous collection of watches, the Carrera was created in 1963 and was named after the Carerra Panamericana road race.

In the late 1990s, Tag Heuer Reintroduced the Carrera and spawned the resurgence of interest in the Heuer back catalogue. This led to many re-editions and interpretations of their vintage models. The modern version of the Carrera is a varied range of luxury watches, focusing on reliability, accuracy and style.

This example is arguably the best of both vintage and modern, closely resembling the original Carrera, with the benefits of the modern automatic movement and Sapphire crystal.
