For sale we have a late 2010s Tag Heuer Carrera Chronometer Calibre 6. It is the reference WV5111.FC6350. The watch comes with its original Tag Heuer presentation box, its paperwork and instructions. The paperwork is unsigned. It comes on its original racing style TAG Heuer leather strap, with Heuer deployment buckle.
At 39mm, this is a larger watch than the original Carrera, more fitting to modern tastes. The case is very much straight out of the original Carrera playbook, with the polished finish and facetted, twisted lug design. It has a lug-to-lug measurement of 46mm which gives it strong presence on the wrist. On the right is the original signed crown. The stepped and polished bezel hold a bevel edged sapphire crystal, above the silver sunburst dial, with a raised blue 60-minute chapter ring. It has applied steel baton indexes with chamfered edges. At 6 O’clock there is a blue sub-seconds dial, with a red hand and the date window. It has sword hands with luminous to complete its contemporary sports design. It has the Heuer motif below 12, a nod to this heritage design. It is also signed “Carrera Chronometer” and “Cal.6”.
To the rear is the screw on case back, with red “Heuer” logo engraved to the centre.
Inside is the TAG Heuer calibre 6 chronometer grade movement. It is an ETA 2895-2 base calibre, which has a frequency of 28,800 BPH. It has a date function at 6 O’clock.
We see this as a refreshing modernisation of the Carrera. The Calibre 6 combines the classic DNA of the 1960s Carrera, whilst re-imagining it as a time only watch. It is the perfect middle ground with the 39mm case, making it suited to most wrist sizes. It also now a model, which you don’t often see and isn’t talked about. It also represents a lot of watch for the money, with its chronometer grade movement and an original retail value of £3300.
