Here we have a September 2017 Seiko Sportura Kinetic Chronograph, reference 7L22-0AS0. It is a large, sporty and retro style of racing chronograph. The bezel design is similar to that of a cockpit instrument. The dial is surrounded by a Tachymeter scale to the exterior. The dial itself a variety of textures and finishes which catch the eye. It shows the constant seconds, 45 minute counter, hours and minutes, date function and a central second hand. The watch is designed to have the timing aspect front of stage, with the hour and minutes presented at the 6 O’clock position. The case has articulated lugs which make the watch a comfortable wear despite its size. The crown screws down, with the case being water resistant. The top pusher starts and stops the chronograph hand, with the button resetting.
To the rear is the exhibition back which allows you to see the Kinetic battery movement.
The watch comes on its original Stainless-Steel bracelet, reference 35M7-BC. It will fit up to a 7.5” wrist circumference.
There is a lot to enjoy about the design of the watch, but the highlight for us is the dial.
The dial is surrounded by a raised Tachymeter chapter ring. It has an asymmetrical minute track with a grained textured finish. The centre section of the dial has a hatched carbon style finish which catches the light. The constant seconds sub-dial is inset, with the black gloss finish. The retrograde 45 minute counter in also inset, with a raised tapered minute track with a grained sunburst finish. The main hours and minutes are at the 6 O’clock sub-dial. The minute track is slated with white luminous markers. The inset face is signed with the Seiko name with the balanced 9, 12, 3, 6 numerals. The date function is set neatly at 5 O’clock.
