Here we have a 2020 Bremont U-2/51 Jet, with DLC coated steel 42mm case, inner rotating bezel and exhibition case back. Inside is a Chronometer grade movement.
The watch sought to add a new dimension to Bremont’s existing range. Bremont’s stealth Jet design watch was inspired by RAF’s 100 Squadron, encapsulating the stealth of strategic night operations.
The 100 Squadron was first formed for night bombing back in 1917 and this was designed to celebrate their centenary and complement their Hawk T1 Jet aircraft.
The black leather strap with black stitching, plus additional Temple Island rubber strap, add comfort whilst continuing the stealth design.
The case is Stainless Steel, with DLC ‘Trip-Tick’ case construction, with Jet black barrel. It has a patented inner bidirectional Roto-Click bezel, operated by the crown at 4 O’clock. It is a well-proportioned piece with a 43mm width and 22mm lug width. It is quoted as water resistant to 100m.
The case back is Stainless Steel with the DLC coating. It has tinted black smoked glass, with 6 DLC coated steel screws securing it in place.
The dial is metal, with Super-LumiNova coated numerals. It incorporates Bremont’s vintage ‘51’ lume, originally found on the P-51, together with heat treated blued steel hands. It displays the hours, minutes, central second and date function at 3 O’clock. This is protected by the double anti-reflective coated, scratch resistant sapphire crystal.
The movement is a modified calibre 11 1/2’’’ BE-36AE automatic chronometer grade. It has a jewel count of 25, with a Glucydur balance. It benefits from an Anachron balance spring and Nivaflex 1 mainspring. It has a hi-beat frequency of 28,800 BPH, with a 38-hour power reserve. It has a custom Bremont moulded and decorated rotor. As a chronometer, it is rated to ISO 3159 standard.
It was originally purchased from Goldsmiths, Cribbs Causeway, on the 21st of March 2020.
It comes nestled in its Inner leather pouch, within the sturdy outer box. It has the added protection of the cloth dust cover.
It comes with its original international warranty and COSC card. The 3-year warranty has passed. It also comes with its technical notes booklet.
It has an original rubber strap and a new leather strap in box. The Bremont spring bar tool is within the leather pouch.
The model is still produced, with a retail price on leather of £4395.
