The beauty of a Fears Custom watch. Based on the Brunswick 38 Salmon, but featuring a rich ‘Blood Red’ dial, with hand brushed vertical finishing. The dramatic raised Arabic numerals and coated in Rhodium, as are the hands. The mix of textures and tones create a refined dial, which provides intrigue and exclusivity to the wearer.

Here we offer a rare opportunity to purchase an exclusive custom Brunswick, from the secretive Fears custom division. This is 1 of 2, with the first custom of this variation being designed by the well-respected watch industry figure Floatlite. With David’s permission, another example with the ‘Blood Red’ dial was produced for a loyal Fears customer. With remaining dials being kept for spares, this is a variation which will never be produced again.

Hand built in Britain in small batches. With its elegant cushion case and multi-purpose suitability, the Brunswick is a modern classic. It takes its inspiration from a silver gents cushion case watch, first made in 1924, which exists within the Fears Archives.

The Brunswick’s elegant 38mm cushion-shaped case has no flat surfaces. Even the solid case back has a gentle curvature. The curves are machined in a manner usually reserved for precious metals. The depth of the polish showcases the sophistication of the machinery and skill of the operator.

Enjoy manually winding the movement each day, using the bespoke ‘Onion’ shaped crown. The fine grooves catch the light, adding a touch of radiance to the edge of the case.

This Brunswick 38 custom features a ‘Blood Red’ dial.

Expertly made in Germany, the surface of the dial features a delicate vertical brushing, applied by hand, making each dial unique. This allows each dial to catch the light in a beautiful, subtle manner. This effect is complemented by the concentric circle finishing on the sunken sub-second dial. The numerals are applied to the dial by hand, after being diamond polished, sand-blasted and Rhodium plated. The numerals are presented in the custom ‘Edwin’ typeface, specially designed for Fears by a horological typographer and inspired by the many different typefaces, the company has used throughout its history.

The dial is protected by the Sapphire Crystal, which has ARdur anti-reflective coating (inside & outside).

The Brunswick features the iconic ‘Fears’ Pipette hands, expertly made in Germany. Skeletonised and Rhodium plated.

Powered by the Swiss made, manual winding ETA 7001 movement. This accurate movement was first designed in the 1970s and its reliability has ensured its continuing popularity today. Each movement has thermally blued screws and Cotes de Geneve striping.

The Standard ‘Bristol Black’, Bristol Leather strap is provided. Tanned in Bristol by Britain’s oldest vegetable tanner, Thomas Ware & Sons. Each have the Fears bespoke pin buckle, with Fears Cipher.

The watch comes with a Fears bracelet which is a bespoke, stainless steel, 5-ink bracelet, with expertly brushed and polished links. Featuring solid screw links, the bracelet has a robust feel, while the smooth movement of the links ensures a comfortable fit. It can be micro-adjusted with both the 8mm and 6mm links provided. It is secured using a trigger-release butterfly style clasp, with the Bristol flower enamelled discreetly inside the blades.

The watch comes in its Fear ‘Logos through the Years’ box, with a plethora of logos engraved to the top. It is a stunning box, made of solid ash, in the UK. It is stained in the bespoke Fears Blue colour. As a custom example, there is a key to lock the box.

The outer box is adorned with the Fears 175 logo for the 175th anniversary in 2021.

It has all accompaniments. Its original invoice, Brunswick watch book, sealed cleaning cloth, owners club card, all communications papers and further invoices for straps, bracelet etc.

This is a lovingly cared for example, having been carefully worn for the last 3 years.

It has no dints or deep marking to the case. It has some light surface scratching but is in very good pre-owned condition. It has come straight from its original owner to us.

As well as the bracelet and original strap, the watch also comes with 4 other straps, including one custom in Ostrich. The leather straps are all a shorter size.
