For sale we have a 2022 Ming 17.09 Blue dial automatic watch, which comes with its full box, papers and warranty. It has a 38mm polished Stainless-Steel case, with unique flared scalloped lug design, giving a lug-to-lug length of 44mm. It has a depth of 10mm, which makes it a comfortable wear. On the right-hand side is the signed crown with triple gaskets.

The polished stainless-steel bezel surrounds the sapphire crystal, which has anti-reflective coating to each sides. This sits above the two-part composite metallic blue engine turned dial, with laser-etched Super-Luminova X1 segments that float above the dial, for the hour markers. The Clous-de-Paris pattern to the centre is exceptional and eye-catching. The skeletonised hands are coated with Super-Luminova X1. On the reverse the solid case back is held in place with six screws. It has a circular brushed sunburst finish.

Inside is the Sellita SW330.M1 movement, which is automatic. It has a jewel count of 25, with a high beat rate 0f 28,800 BPH. It is modified by Schwarz-Etienne and includes an independent hour change, which is exclusive to MING.

The first crown position advances the hour hand independently to the rest of the gear train, which continues to run. This is useful for daylight savings time, as well as global travel.

The watch is sold with its original Ming outer box and leather travel pouch. It also has its original signed paperwork. It comes on its original 20mm Jean Rousseau Paris textured calf strap, in black with blue Alcantara lining and signed Stainless Steel buckle. It is from July of 2022. It has been worn sparingly by its previous owner. It has some light scuffs to the polished bezel but is in overall very fair condition. It is under warranty until the 28th July 2025.

MING is a collective which was formed by six watch enthusiasts from around the world. The founder, Ming Thein, is a photographer, designer and business strategist. They are based in Malaysia. Their watches have been recognised by the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Geneve on four occasions.

The 17.09 is a watch that has received significant fanfare and hype, with waiting times up to a year, whilst it was in production. I can confirm, it my opinion that they are worth the hype. The level of finishing is exceptionally high for the price point, combined with an incredibly unique design.
