Here we have a WW2 Aristo British Royal Naval Issue, Admiralty Pattern 300 pocket watch. It has the white enamel dial with the clear railroad track and Roman numeral hour markers. The sub-second register is at 6 O'clock with the thermally blued sub-second hand. It has the thermally blued spade and whip style hands indicating the time and is signed Aristo below 12 O'clock. The dial is protected by the thick original glass with the bevelled edge. The bezel has the coin edge to the screw front, with matching screwback. It is marked with the large broad arrow and the Admiralty pattern 300 signing. Inside it has the serial number 33441 and is marked as ‘Pure nickel’ and ‘Swiss Made’. It has a good quality Swiss Lever 15 jewel manual wind movement which is keeping accurate time.

Issued to petty officers during WW2. What the watches main use for, is not entirely clear. It is stated by some that they were used for timing torpedo’s and for wireless transmission officers.

Aristo were founded by watchmaker Julius Epple in 1907, in Pforzheim, southwestern Germany. It is a beautiful city which earned the nickname “Goldstadt” or “Golden City” for its jewellery and watchmaking industry.
